What is Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga & Fitness?

Prenatal and postnatal fitness & yoga trainers are certified trainers who have taken additional training and testing in the unique population of prenatal and postnatal women. They are specialized in the specific exercise and general diet modifications and health considerations for these women.  The training focuses on keeping mom and baby safe and healthy during movement and breath and helping keep women active during pregnancy within the healthcare guidelines. They are also educated to help postnatal women get back to movement safely after baby is born, and they are recovered.

Fertility Yoga

The journey of Fertility can be both exciting and sometimes challenging. It is important to find others who understand and share similar emotions and/or stresses.

When planning a baby and preparing your body to be as healthy as possible or if you are undergoing assisted reproduction, yoga can increase blood flow, reduce tension and anxiety and help align the pelvis which all can help in achieving a faster conception. With a mix of poses (asanas), breath control and meditation, fertility can be enhanced by reducing stress and improving hormonal circulation.

 
 
 

Pregnancy & Birth

Prenatal Yoga can increase concentration and pain coping, improve flexibility and strength, reduce anxiety and stress and ease pregnancy discomforts such as lower back pain and hip discomfort. As well as help you bond with your baby, facilitate a deeper connection with your body and intuition.

The WOMB’s yoga and fitness team are specially trained to assess and modify for common conditions that result from pregnancy and birth including but not limited to diastasis recti (DRA), incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. They are able to test for DRA and develop a training program designed to rehab that and other pelvic floor dysfunction issues working independently or in parallel with a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. Our team is also trained to assess the external body for tension and misalignment and posture adaptations that will impact the body’s ability to recover from pregnancy and birth.

 
 
 

Parenting

There is so much to learn, to love and to inspire in parenthood! We offer workouts designed to help you re-energize, restore, and tone muscle while considering the needs of a postpartum and/or breastfeeding mother. Our Mom and baby yoga and fitness classes are a fun way to meet other parents in the same stage and build a connection with your baby.
